Dr. Dr GR ratnavel is a specilist in hair transplantation, i had consulted him 4 months ago (during Jan'08)for hair transplantation as he has done more than 1500 hair plantation surgery, i was bit nervous aboout the sucess of hair transplanation he is very friendly and made me comfortabe by exlaning the procedure.

Bad doc
| I have not grown a singlw hair since taking 1 yr treatment with him and after that had HT with him. It is 1 yr since HT and my head looks very odd and I was far better before HT. My life is screwed by this doc. |

Good Multitalented Doctor

Hi I went to the doctor few days back for my husband. he was having the complain for more than a year, we consulted more than 5 doctors before consulting dr.ratnavel.as soon as he saw, his speech gave us confidence, he asked for several investigations. we followed his advise. just in 3 days of medication, my husband started the change. in 15days total infection subsided. now we are happy. though he takes just 2min and his fees is high,doesn't matter. our problem solved. that is what needed.i recommend him... |

Business oriented (Repeat of Finastiride, Vitamin, Zinc, Folic acid)

Hi I have no comments over good or bad opinion expressed by other reviewers, but based on my experience with him (took medication for more than 18 months), as one said rightly that he keeps changing between medicines which he has rightly in hand, whether you go for once in a month or 15 days consultation. Also I do agree that you get little result after few months, but at the same time once you stop taking them, you are back to square one, you hair loss starts again. A good doctor should take time to know about the cause and effects of the diseases and medicines prescribed, but he just will give you different set of medicines and that will definitely have finastiride, vitamin tablet, folic acid and zinc. Only thing is he will suggest you with a different medicine name.. INR 500 for a minute consultation is too much, and this does not look like taking care of the patients rather than trying to attend maximum patients and mint money.. Similar experience was also shared by my friend vijay, but luckily he discontinued after few months.. You monthly expenses would be around 4k if you approach him. Overall, I do not recommend anyone to this doctor. |

Hi All, Firstly let us discuss the effects: This doctor can help you to gain Hair but their may be side effects. I was taking treatment from Him and yes within first few months the treatment showed results however I did some R&D on the medicines and was surprised to see this- Treatment: His treatment heavily depend on medicines comprising of : 1. Minoxidil 10% solution 2. Finasteride 1 mg 3. Biotin capsules, 4. Folic Acid & zinc sulphate tablets etc.. Biotin is perfectly ok, minoxidil is not too bad in terms of side effects. You may google for minoxidil 5% solution & you will come to know that the solution is helpful for as long as you continue the medicine, very effective but yes to an extent expensive. The problem is with Finasteride. Infact I discontinued his treatment after coming to know about it , you may try to read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finasteride The side effects can be more problamatic than the best hair gain results from such steroids. This doctor says that their are no side effects but the salt is actually very controversial. Alternative: Based on experience from treatment from Batra (which actually is not too effective) and treatment from this doctor, i would suggest that people may choose to use Minoxidil 10% solution to be applied daily for about 1 year (it shows results starting from 3 months & onwards however 1 year minimum is recommended for persistant effects) Also diet should be protien rich, keep your hair clean, do not massage violently, try to remain stress free do exercise to maintain good blood circulation & learn to live with less hair. Also these compounds that i mentioned above come under various brands. I did R&D only after i tried to buy these medicines from a different shop and the shop keeper asked me "why do u want steroids?" Any 1 who takes treatment from him will get the same medicines like Biona -E (fo biotin) , Sofer (Folic acid), Fine or Glow (for Finasteride)...he will kepp changing the brand names but the salt will remain the same. I had absolutely no issues in paying him 400 for 1 minute consultation each fortnight or to invest in 1500 to 2000 INR for his medicines every 15 day, but I am discontinuing after coming to know bout the steroid. Plz consult your family doctor reg these salts if u really want to go for his treatment. |

Hi Folks, Don't waste your time and money on him.He speaks so nicely in a way like a psychotherapist. He asks you to take his medicine for life long. I don't think he just work for apollo but also for various pharmacetical companies. Perhaps he'll cure your disease but inturn you ll end up having lot of other problems(Side effects because of consuming too much medicines even a buffalo can't eat that much). He never wants you to stop his medicine for ever. You feel elated at first consulatation and after a few, you end up dejected as you see no remedies. He himself gives you a chance to realize he's just money minded by telling you before you leave his room," hey da, Don't forget to buy the medicine here". Beware. |

Good Doctor who gives Positive Thoughts and Confidence

Hi readers, About a year back, I met this doctor for a skin infection on my leg below my knee,where i always had itching on the particular part and later it had spread nearly 15 cms. Before meeting this doctor i met more that 4 docs who treated me for nearly 2 years. With only 15% improvement i was really worried with my leg as it had also started to spread. Then i came to know about this Doctor. I consulted him. (Please do not arrive at a conclusion, that my infection was not cured because i kept on changing docs. With no improvement i had to change doc) As soon as he saw the infection he gave me the medicines and asked me to come after 15 days. But he did not tell as to what was the infection but he said not to stop the medicine and to follow the prescription correctly without any break and he gave me the confidence that he will give me 100% cure. It is true that he does not spend more that one minute to a patient. Unbelievably, as soon as i took the first dose that nice, the itchiness stopped. Since then there was never itchiness on that part and the infection was stopped spreading and the skin began to heal. On my second sitting the doctor was happy to see the infection heal and only then told me the name of the infection (which i dont remember now as it was too scientific to remember)and said if i had not taken the medicines regularly, the infection would have damaged the flesh leaving behind only the bone. It was only then i realise how serious the infection was. During my treatment,i had nearly 5 sittings i.e. only two and a half months. After 3 months my infection was completely gone and there was also no sign of scare in that place. Now i am a much relieved person after fitting the infection for nearly two and a half years. For those people who reads, i would say he best doctor for skin i have seen. However,i am not commenting about his hair treatment as i have no idea about that. I would definitely recommend this doctor. |

For those who says the Doctors is Good
| I saw few ppl saying that medication had resulted in hair growth. I hope you have done your research before consulting this doctor about available options. I did my research and i know that Propecia, Rogaine (minoxidil) works for hair growth. These are FDA approved meditions. I have consulted a doctor in USA. He completly checked my hair and said i dont need any of it and suggested some natural ways to get rid of hair loss. However when i consulted Dr. Ratnavel during my visit to India. He didn't even check if i have hair loss or not. He just saw me from distance and prescribed hell lot of meditions. You know what 75% of them are vitamin tablets and a liquid gel which has 5% monoxidal. Obviously minoxidal will results in hair growth. The only problem is as soon as you stop using this, your hair will go back to whatever stage it would have been had you not used this liquid in just 3 months. I am giving this info to make sure that no one is fooled by him. To me, a doctor is some one analyses the root cause of the issue and provides treatment, not someone who has some general formula for everything and applies the same for everybody. I have consulted this doctor in both Apollo and Old Washermanpet. He is a pakka money minded person. he knows something related to this field and he is managing with his speech, actually he do not know how to consult the patients. He given lot of tablets every thing is heavy dosage .. atlast i got severe problem with the food pipe itself ... only waste of money yaar.. find out the good and best doctors.. |

Not Good
| Hi Frds.. I had consulted this doctor with lot of expectations. He is completly money minded and he doesnt look at any patient for more than 2 mins (Max). He didn't even look at my hair. he stared with medication. He assumed some thing and asked me to take so many pills that i would have never taken in my entire life hadn't i consulted him. 6 pills a day. He wanted me to get medicines from one shop. i think he has share in it. Some how after using medicines for 3 months i stopped it as i am scared of all those tablets. I can't say his treatment doesnt work as i didn;t continue it for more than 4 months. But i can say he is money minded. i am looking for some one who can identify the root cause and treat, not the one who prescribes the same medication for everybody just like that. |
