I was under Dr.Arnab's supervision for my two deliveries when he was in Chennai Dr.E.V.Kalyani Nursing home.He is a doctor par excellence and it was my blessing that i came across a doctor like him.Extremely patient,caring and loving.I can never forget his care and strongly believe that doctors like him are god sent to humanity.

Irresponsible and Inexperienced - Please read this or you might be affected too!!

Rating one only for his behavior. My mother underwent hysterectomy back in July, 2011 in Apollo, Kolkata. After the laparoscopic operation, she was kept in the hospital for 4 days. After coming back home, she was experiencing severe problems like back pain, constipation, etc. During this time, Arnab Basak checked and said "EVERYTHING'S FINE, YOU NEED NOT WORRY!!" After a week she was again admitted to Apollo as the previous night, urine started leaking and it would not stop. IVU test was performed and found that the right ureter was clipped during laparoscopy!!! Such an irresponsible doctor!!! Arnab Basak came to us and reported that Dr. Vinay Mahendra from Urology will take care of this. (Thats it!! He got rid of his responsibility!!). Now, a doctor would never criticise another and thats the reason why Mahendra said "IT HAPPENS VERY RARELY DURING SUCH AN OPERATION. ONE OUT OF 100 CASES!!". Again my mother was operated by Dr. Mahendra instantly within two days (that was in august, 2011) and he mentioned that it was fine now. She came back home after 4 days in hospital. The total O.T charge was about Rs. 1,40,000. The previous operation was 1,25,000. Although it was a urological case, but I noticed that Dr Basak still billed Rs. 20,000 for the O.T for himself only. Now why was that? What was his role?? Anyways, even after the second O.T my mother was still experiencing the same problems. Dr. Mahendra is extremely patient (I appreciate the fact), but still he kept on saying, "WE NEED TO PERFORM MORE TESTS!!". Alrite, now, the day the Catheter was removed, the urine started leaking again!!!. Mahendra said, "ITS OK. WE NEED TO PERFORM SOME TESTS AND SEE WHAT WAS WRONG!!". I admit, I felt like slapping both those idiots who call themselves doctors. They were bloody experimenting with my mother or what!!! That was it!!! We straightaway went to Wockhardt hospital (now Fortis) in Rashbehari Avenue. Thereafter, we made an appointment with Dr. Subrata Mukherjee who recommended us to Dr. Shivaji Basu(The best Urologist in Kolkata). Dr Basu checked and he confirmed that the leakage did not stop and she needs to be operated again but after two months as the current operation stiched needs to dry up and heal. My mother underwent a THIRD surgery and currently she's at home with the Catheter. Dr. Basu mentioned that due to lack of experience, the microscopic operation caused this leakage issue. I just wanted to warn everyone that if you are not confident on any doctor, please don't go for laparoscopic surgeries as it requires an art (not possible by freaks like Arnab Basak and Vinay Mahendra). They are good doctors, but only when its a minor issue. For complex cases, consult people and then go to any doctor. I feel frstrated as my mother, who was very active and was even working, is now spending the whole day in bed and still fearing that what would happen if this operation fails too!!! I know this is not the place to be emotional but for the sake of humanity I thought I would make you all aware. Now, only GOD can help us!! Sorry,if this post is too lengthy. |

Yes, I agree that he is an excellent Doctor. Contact no. of his Secretary Ms. Rumpa is +919830411066. Talk to her for appointment. His charge is also quite reasonable, only INR 400/- per visit. He is available whole day from Monday to Saturday at Apollo Hospital, Kolkata. He also sits at clinics located at various parts of Kolkata during evening hours. Once you are in his hand, you may forget about any problem you are having. He is very sincere and a nice human being whom can be relied upon safely. The Hospital is 16 km from my home, but my wife and I preferred his treatment / surgery rather than going to many other Hospitals around our neighbourhood. I wish him very best wishes! |

excellent Doctor

I met Dr. Arnab Basak when he was in Chennai at E. V. Kalyani Medical centre, Initially I was hesitant to consult a male docotr. But he made me very comfortable, more than a excellent doctor, he is an excellent Human being, he cares so much for his pateints. When I had labour pains (I could not recognise the pain since it was back labour and I was under the thought it was a back pain) i called him at night to know what has to be done he answered very patiently and asked me to come over to the centre. There Dr. Rajshri was present and and told me that iam in the last stage of labour and i wll deliver in 30 minutes time. Thank God I delivered a baby girl and was relived that, i called up Dr. Arnab or else i would have delivered at home or on the way even on road. Now When i look back and think about those incidents Iam happy that i was under the care of such a Good team at EVK. We miss you Dr. Arnab and wish you were in Chennai. Kolkatta is lucky to have you. I met this Dr. in a very crucial part of my life.. when I almost lost the hope of continuing my 11 weeks pregnancy. But this Dr. treated me so well that now I am a proud mother of a sweet baby girl. He is a very caring Dr. very helpful, informative and behaves with his patients very well. I am very thankful to God for sending him as a lifesaving ambassador to my daughter!!!! High Risk Pregnancies

How good is he as a doctor in handling high risk pregnancies - such as pre-eclamsia??? Can anyone suggest experienced & capable gynae's who have handled successfully "Pre-eclampsia" cases. |

He is one of the best!
| Presently he is a full timer at Apollo, Kolkata and is doing well to my knowledge. Extreamly good in patient handling. My wife is under his treatment since last one year, after hysterectomy. |
